About Me

My first introduction to Encaustic Art was by a French Canadian in 1985. I was fascinated by the technique of painting with an iron. In 1996 while studying for City and Guilds Patchwork and Quilting (part 1 and 2), I decided to try out the technique as part of my experimental use of mixed media. I continued as a textile artist with encaustic as a hobby. Due to demand, Encaustic Art has become my main work. I now also make encaustic earrings. However I still enjoy experimenting with mixed media.

I was born in the North of England and spent a lot of my childhood in the Yorkshire Dales with the moors stretching as far as you can see, with the patchwork fields surrounded by stone walls. I now live between Dartmoor and Exmoor and am once again surrounded by moors. I can often get lost while painting a landscape, wondering what might be around the corner or over the distant hill.
